Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Bill also known as Nuclear Liability Billis a key step in operationalisation of the landmark Indo-U.S. Civilian Nuclear Agreement which was enacted successfully in October, 2008. As per this bill India agrees to separate her civil and military nuclear facilities. Further, India also agrees to place her civil nuclear facilities under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards. On the other hand, United States agrees to work toward full civil nuclear cooperation with India.

BCCI cancels IPL franchise tender process after objections over stiff financial clauses. Two new IPL franchises comes into existence after the first auction is cancelled following the BCCI’s objection to stiff financial clauses set by Modi. Second auction was conducted two weeks later with Sahara (Pune) and Rendezvous (Kochi) bagging the bids. Sahara wins Pune, Rendezvous group gets Kochi for $333.33 million. (Videocon and Adani group, who supposedly had Modi’s backing out-bidden). Rendezvous' surprise bid has upset bigger players.

Chhattisgarh: Annual Plan Rs. 13,230 Crore

The annual plan outlay of Chhattisgarh for 2010-11 has been fixed at Rs. 13,230 Crore in a meeting between planning commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh. The plan outlay for Year 2009-10 was Rs. 10,947 crore, which has been hiked by roughly 20% this year.

Payment of Gratuity (Amendment) Bill 2010
Payment of Gratuity (Amendment) Bill 2010 is passed in Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Thus, the parliament has approved the enhancing of gratuity limit for employees from Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh as also the exemption threshold from income tax on it. The bill also provides that the income tax exemption limit has commensurately been increased to Rs 10 lakh from Rs 3.5 lakh earlier. The bill was brought following demands from trade unions and others to remove the ceiling or increase the maximum payable amount, which was fixed in 1997.
